The map on the left is the outline map created by Vernon Historical Society in 1988 to define Talcottville's historic boundaries, part of the process of National Historic District designation. The district reaches from Dobson road, at the stone dam and head race, down the Tankerhoosen River to the pond.

It includes the properties on Elm Hill Road, takes in Mount Hope Cemetery, and Main Street.

This district, rich with significant houses and sites from the old days, forms the center of the greater area still known as Talcottville.

The power for the early mills and industry came from the river.

The dam below Tankerhoosen Pond, with the "Old Workers Quarters", now a single family home, seen across the river.
